Men

Nenagh are Munster Bruen champions

AIG Jimmy Bruen: Nenagh were victorious in the Munster semi-finals and final of the AIG Jimmy Bruen played at Nenagh Golf Club on Saturday. They took on Waterford Castle in the semi-final on Saturday morning and beat them 3-2. The team and scores were (Nenagh names first): Ray Hurley and Padraig Hackett lost to Jamie Daly and Harry Belton 3/2; Conor O’Dwyer and Tom O’Gara beat David Mahon and John McLoughlin 5/4; Brian Freeman and Matthew O’Gara beat Liam Cody and Martin O’Callaghan 8/7; Denis Corrigan and John Hogan lost to Dave Butler and Chris Doran 1 hole; Michael Corrigan and Bernard Hackett beat Thomas Coffey and Eddie Shanahan 1 hole. Bandon beat Killarney in the other semi-final.
On to the afternoon final which Nenagh won 4-1 to qualify for the All-Ireland semi-final to be played at Westport in September. The team and scores against Bandon were (Nenagh names first): Conor O’Dwyer and Tom O’Gara beat Jack O’Donoghue and Brian O’Donoghue 3/2; Ray Hurley and Padraig Hackett halved Derek O’Driscoll and David Kelly; Michael Ryan and Michael Scroope beat Michael O’Dell and Kevin Brophy 3/2; Brian Freeman and Matthew O’Gara beat Dave McLoughlin and Sean O’Donoghue 2 up; Michael Corrigan and Bernard Hackett halved with Michael O’Neill and Martin Dunlea called in. Many congratulations to the team and selectors Collwyn Martin and David McGrath.

Lady Captain's Prize: The men's club hopes that Lady Captain Mary O'Shea has a lovely day on Saturday July 28. There will be no men's competition on that date.
Moore Cup: The Moore Cup team has a convincing victory over Royal Curragh on Wednesday July 17. They had three matches at home with Matt Hanly, P. J. Shanahan and Tom Harty representing and four matches away with Eamon Kelly, Jimmy Bourke, Dinny Ryan and Pat Boland taking part. They are now in the semi-final of this competition. Well done to the team and manager Bernard Delahunty.
Golf Classic 2019: The North Tipperary Hospice in Home Care Movement Golf Classic (main sponsor Fogarty Concrete) will be held on Saturday August 3 and Sunday August 4 with over €2000 in prizes. The format will be team of four (ladies, gents or mixed) with two scores to count at each hole. The entry is €60 per team. First prize: four golf bags; 2nd prize: 4 wedges; 3rd prize: golf shoes and many more prizes including nearest the pin and longest drive for ladies and men plus goody bags for all. Special prizes for best all ladies team and visitors teams not featuring in the main prizes. You may book your perferred tee times by phoning 087 6373828 or email: hospiceclassic@gmail.com. Book available through the club's BRS booking system from July 24. This is a very worthy cause so please support.

Singles Matchplay: All of the second round matches have now been played. Check for your third round opponent. First named player to arrange match. Get your match played as soon as you can to ensure the smooth running of this competition.

Club Fourball: The Club Fourball pairings and rules are posted on the noticeboard in the men's locker room. Get your match played as soon as possible to keep this competition on schedule.

Beechwood Cup: The Beechwood Cup is a singles matchplay competition for full members who were never under 18 handicap or have never won this competition previously. Put your name on the sheet on the notice board. Entry fee €5. Closing date is Wednesday July 31.

Club Senior: This Club Senior singles matchplay competition is open to members who are 60 years of age on January 1 2019 and who have never won this competition before. Entry fee €5 and closing date is Wednesday July 31.

Diary change: There had been a change made to the diary in August regarding the Captain's (Hugh Maher) Prize. The Captain's Prize Qualifier will now be held on Saturday August 10, Sunday August 11 and Monday August 12. The Captain's Prize playoff will take place on Saturday August 17. Societies already booked in will have to be catered for. There will now be an open singles on Sunday August 18. A scramble will take place on Saturday August 24 and Sunday August 25.

LADIES GOLF NOTES 21/07/19

Best of luck to Mary on her Lady Captains Day on Saturday 27th July. We would like to invite all to attend her presentation of prizes @ 8.30pm followed by music and dancing.
