James Shanahan didn't score at the first hole on Sunday but went through the rest of the course in six over par to score 43 pts and take first prize.

Open Team Of Three

Team of Three 2019-20: The Team of Three competition for 2019-2020 will commence in October. Members can play Monday to Saturday, visitors can play any day excluding open days. Two teams qualify each month. If visiting team not in first two, best visiting team to qualify each month with a grand final in May 2019. Prizes: 1st - 3x €300 Vouchers; 2nd - 3x €200 Vouchers; 3rd - 3x €100 Vouchers; 4th - 3x €75; 5th - 3x €50 Vouchers. Competition fee will be €10 each for members and €20 each for visitors with re-entry in the same month €5 for members and €10 for visitors. Play off 9/10th of your handicap. Each player who enters will be included in a draw for prizes of €150, €100 and €50 at the end of the competition. You may book on-line or contact the Pro Shop 067 31476 Ext 2 or 087 2132241.

Winter League: The first semi-final of the Winter League takes place on this Saturday April 13. Eamon Callanan will play Robert Foley at 9.40am. The second semi-final between Paul Moloney and Brian Freeman will take place on the following Saturday April 20.

Singles Matchplay: The draw for the singles matchplay (O'Keeffe Cup) is on the noticeboard in the men's locker room. First round matches to be played before April 28. First named player to arrange match. Get your match played as soon as you can to ensure the smooth running of this competition.

Duggan Cup: Our Duggan Cup team fell at the first hurdle in their match with Tullamore on Saturday. The match ended Tullamore 31/2 Nenagh 11/2. In action for Nenagh in Tullamore were: Ger Clifford and Roger Coffey; Pat Ryan and Michael Fahey; Paul Ferris and Sean Quinn. While playing in Nenagh were: Michael Ryan and Billy Morgan along with Michael Hegarty and Eugene Fitzpatrick. The manager was Jim Flynn. It was great to see our captain Hugh Maher on the course to support the team.

Pierce Purcell Shield: Nenagh won the Pierce Purcell Shield last year and the campaign to retain the title start in May. Members wishing to be considered for selection can put their names on a sheet in the clubhouse. Handicap range is from 10.5 to 16.4.

Jimmy Bruen Shield: Anyone interested in representing the club in the Jimmy Bruen Shield this year should put their name on the sheet posted up on the noticeboard in the men's locker room. The handicap is 4.5 and higher. Collwyn Martin is the manager of this team.

Central Towns: Any member who wishes to be considered for team selection for Central Towns should put their name on a sheet in the locker room. The handicap is 13 plus from 1/1/2019. The selectors are Pat O'Connor and Bernard Delahunty.

Fred Perry Trophy: This is a new competition for 2019. The age bracket is 55+ on 1st January 2019. There is a sheet on the noticeboard. Highest handicap 28. Selector is Tony McCann.

J. B. Carr Trophy: The J. B. Carr Diamond Trophy is an inter-club competition for those over 60 years of age on January 1 2019.. There is a sheet posted on the noticeboard in the men's locker room on which you may put your name if you wish to be considered for selection. The manager of the team will be Paddy Peters.

Cashman Cup: Nenagh Golf Club won the Cashman Cup last season and will be bidding to retain their title this year. Selector Jim Gleeson and Pat Hogan have a sheet posted in the men's lockeroom requesting those interested to put their names forward. This competition is for over 30 years of age and for those on 14.5 handicap and higher. It is played as a fourball betterball format off scratch.

Cardiac First Responder Course: A Cardiac First Responder's Course will take place at Nenagh Golf Club on Wednesday April 17 starting at 6.30pm. There are 12 places available. If you are interested please give you name to Tom or Siobhan in the office.

Congratulations to the junior cup team who won against Newcastle West Golf Club on Sunday. Commiserations to the minor cup team and challenge cup team who were defeated by East Clare Golf Club over the weekend Best of luck to the ladies playing in the Mary McKenna Diamond Trophy v East Clare Golf Club on the 17th April.
