Results: Open Singles Wednesday 26th March: 1st: Shane Hogan (+2) 41 pts (last 2); 2nd Sean Forde (8) 41 pts; 3rd Tony McCormack (20) 38 pts (back 9); gross Tristan O'Rourke 34 pts; seniors 1: Pat McLoughlin (23) 38 pts (back 9); seniors 2: Ronnie Slevin (14) 38 pts. The scoring was extremely hot in the Wednesday Open last week. Shane Hogan was seven under par for his round that included birdies at the first three hole and he didn't drop a shot scoring 41pts. Sean Forde pushed him all the way with his 41 pts that included birdies at the 2nd, 6th and 13th and he only lost out on first place on the countback that went all the way back to the last two holes. Well done to both these very fine golfers. Tony McCormack recovered from blanks at the first two holes to take third place on 38pts. Gross winner Tristan O'Rourke had an eagle at the par five 12th.

Burns (12) 72 (back 9); 5th Eamon O'Brien (11) 72 (back 9); seniors Paul Collinson (14) 72; student: Scott O'Brien (15) 73. CSS: Saturday 75, Sunday 73. Nine over par after playing six holes on Saturday Tony Slattery certainly steadied the ship and covered the remaining holes in just one over and 68 shots to take first place in the Cavanagh Cup last weekend. In taking second place Paul Ferris had mixed luck on the par fives with a birdie at the 3rd and a double bogey at the 17th but still carded a respectable 70. Michael Corrigan had a four over par round which included birdies at 7th and 17th. David Reddan won the gross with one over par.
Hole-in-One: Well done to Brian Duggan who had a hole-in-one at the 11th playing in the Cavanagh Cup competition on Sunday. Reports are he hit a 7 iron to the 129m hole and the ball went straight in on the fly. Afterwards Brian generously treated everybody in the clubhouse to toast his good fortune.

Free Sub Competition: The Free Sub Competition will be held on this Saturday and Sunday 5th and 6th April. Competition entry fee will be €10. Rules and conditions: (1) Only fully paid up members (including Direct Debits) can win the free subscription; (2) Only members with subscriptions paid by Wednesday 2nd April are eligible to win the free subscription prize; (3) Maximum prize is a single subscription; (4) Entry fee will be €10; (5) Free subscription prize is confined to adult member only (adult, life, family, country, seniors); (6) Juniors/students not eligible to win free subscription prize; (7) Competition format will be singles Stableford.
Winter League results: Saturday29th March: Quarter Final: Collwyn Martin 1 Matt O'Gara 2; Gary Howard 2.5 Benny Dunne 0.5. Matt O'Gara's and Gary Howard's teams qualified for the semi-final following their wins on Saturday. In the first quarter final Matt O'Gara and Michael Corcoran lost to Collwyn Martin and Paddy Martin; Willie Harty and Tom O'Gara beat Eddie Maher and Mark O'Dwyer while John O'Gara and Matthew O'Gara beat Tom Slattery and Eamon O'Brien. In the second quarter final Gary Howard and Paul Moloney beat Eamon Kelly and Kevin Nealon; David Hickey and John Hickey beat Ger Ryan and Barry Dunne while the match between Flannery Flannery and Billy Morgan and Liam Sheedy and Benny Dunne was called in. One of the features of the last match was the eagle by Liam Sheedy at the 12th hole.
Winter League Fixtures: The second round of quarter finals will take place on this Saturday 5th April, Christy Hartigan v Pat Foley 9.30 am and John Hogan v Denis Corrigan 10.00am .
Subscriptions: The subscriptions for the year 2014 are now due. Early payment would be appreciated by the club. This can be paid by cheque, draft or laser card. After 1st April this year you cannot enter a competition, win a prize or be eligible for handicap reduction unless you have your membership subscription paid.

Pierce Purcell: Members who wish to be considered for trials for the Pierce Purcell squad should put their names on the sheet posted in the men's noticeboard. To be eligible for this competition your handicap last year must not be lower than 12 and currently not higher than 16.4. Gerry O'Rourke and Tom Kennedy are selectors for 2014.
Duggan Cup: Billy Morgan and Matt Hanley are the selectors of the Duggan Cup team and they are asking members who wish to be considered for this squad to put their names on the sheet on the noticeboard. You must be over 50 years of age to be considered for this competition. Closing date 4th April.
Mixed Foursomes: Members who wish to be considered for selection on the Irish Mixed Foursomes team and the Diageo Mixed Foursomes team are invited to put their names on the sheet on the noticeboard in the locker room. The selectors are Des O'Carroll and Maureen Hogan.
